/.ed

After more than 2 years slashdot has discovered our Lego Star Destroyer stopmotion video. Fortunately some very nice people offered their bandwidth to host mirrors of the files. My server hasn’t been slashdotted to death yet. However a few of the mirror sites have (almost) died. I am very sorry for that.

I am happy that our little video is getting some recognition. Many people have commented here or sent me personal emails to tell me how much they liked it. That makes me happy. Of course the slashdot thread has many troll posts by people complaining that we didn’t build a custom star destroyer model, people complaining that there are not enough boobs in the video and people complaining that this made the slashdot frontpage. But I guess you can never make everybody happy.

I’m just happy that there are quite a few people out there that seemed to have enjoyed it.

So yeah, slashdot managed to have me post my first post in almost a year :)

And somehow…none of those Slashdotters (until myself) did you the justice and visited your site to comment and compliment. Too much ego? Who knows….

Anyway, good job on the SD and your site is pretty cool as well :)

Hello,

I loved the video, very nice work! Have you ever thought about doing another one? Maybe something even bigger!!

I saw your video and I really liked it. It’s cool to watch huge projects come together like that, especially the ones involving legos. Maybe you’d like to add music to the vid?

I’m all for an “even bigger” lego-stop-motion video

Meh, it’s just slashdot. It’s like the Mos Eisley of the Internet galaxy.

I came as a friend linked to /. to point me to your vid. We both loved it and are considering doing one ourselves, possibly withteh deathstar when it comes out. Only thing is the deathstar looks a bit boring - end up with just a big sphere with a chunk out!

We are alos looking into large lego home made projects (if you see what I mean) but that sounds like too much work!

Giles,

I feel the same about the death star. It just looks boring. Might be worth buying, building once and then disassemblin g for the parts. But I’d rather go for the correllian corvette at this point.

Glad you liked the video. And be sure to tell me if you make a vid yourself :)

Glad to hear you’re posting again! Absolutely love the site. I read adognamedfish cover to cover last week when I came across it on BC. I thought maybe something bad happened on 9-23-04.

I think this is the first time Slashdot has actually done the public service of putting a fantastic website back online :)

Take care.
Jason

Hello from the north east of England. This is probably the best thing I’ve ever seen in my life! Well, ok maybe not that great but pretty awesome never-the-less. You must have been pretty impressed with yourselves after completing that? Well done.

“Meh, it’s just slashdot. It’s like the Mos Eisley of the Internet galaxy.”

Agreed! A friend referred me to the video, but I’m sure as referrals go at some point in its history the person who told him about it was told by someone, who was in turn told by someone else… etc. etc. who found it at Slashdot.

(had to change this wording mysteriously because of “questionable content… I used no profanity whatsoever… just something to do with not holding anything against anything, read on and you’ll figure it out) against Slashdot (nor Mos Eisley) though, if it weren’t for /. I would never have been told to come here!

The video is superb. Makes me want to go and steal all my little brother’s lego and relive my childhood. =) I’ve been told by a friend that the Lego SD was big, but I had no idea how big it really was!

Awesomeness. My compliments! I’ll post and trackback from my blog soon as my server admin shows up and fixes the conflict with CPanel, it’s making my trackbacks not work at all… =(

It doesn’t like the word ‘g.r.u.d.g.e’, I think.

Just saw the stop motion vid and really loved it. Gave me a smile and took my mind off a bad day. Thank you!

What song is used in the Lego star destroyer video? It is quite good.

Hi Steve,

in the comments to the Lego star destroyer post (http://www.adognamedfish.com/archives/2003/01/lego_star_destroyer/index.php) you’ll find one comment about the music. I believe the artist’s name was “Mylo”.
