Need to hurry

I'm currently spending most of my free time with making Michi's christmas present. Uh, I mean, I'm of course helping the little elves make it ;) Can't talk about it though as he reads this. Hi Sweetie! *looks around innocently*

I don't believe it

I still don't believe it. Santa brought me the Lego Star Destroyer! Wheeee! I didn't expect this AT ALL. I also got the Japanese Amelie Poster. Michi got me a very, very cool T-Shirt and his family the LotR Extended Version on DVD. *does the happy dance*

LotR Show

LotR Show

LotR: The Two Towers was brilliant. Very good movie. I've read many comments stating that the movie was crap because it took too much liberty from the book. That is all they critizised. Well you can't really expect a movie to be a 1:1 adaption of the book. Movies work differently than books. Only because it's farther away from the books than the first part doesn't make it a bad movie. I won't go into any details as I don't want to spoil it for people who haven't seen the film yet.

To sum it up, I really liked the film, maybe even a tad better than the first one. There's quite a bit of comic relief which I truly enjoyed and didn't think of as overdone. Definitely one of the best movies I have seen this year.

The pictures in this post show two people from the audience dressed up as knights with cardboard armor and horses and duct tape swords. During the breaks they would fight each other. It was very funny, complete with "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"-like taunts. Thanks for the show guys!

I'm pissed!!

For the first time today I had somebody try to post some form of malicious code (an url redirector) on my site. I did not check the url so I don't know what it would've done. Why do some people insist on being assholes?

It's strange

A week ago at the same time I was in the middle of writing an introduction to my thesis. I would declare my thesis finished 13.5 hours later. Strange to think of it now. It seems so far away and at the same time I have no idea how it can already have been a week since then. Time flies....

Equilibrium

I've just seen the Equilibrium trailer and, man, I need to see this movie. I'm not sure they'll even show it in Germany though :( Aparently it doesn't get distributed to that many cinemas. Which is a shame cause it looks like it has lots of potential. And the action scenes.... *sigh*

Ahh...

I just did part of my christmas shopping. At this time of day on a Sunday! (*) Online. Yay! You gotta love the internet.

(*) Stores are closed in Germany on Sundays.

The only reason I am still awake is my laptop:

The laptop has started to crash more and more frequently in the past weeks. Two days ago we wanted to watch an episode of CSI that we had on the computer (we use the laptop for this because it has a TV-Out) and the damn thing crashed whenever you clicked on the movie file. Before, it would only crash when you surfed the net. So we decided to find out what is wrong with it so I could precisely tell the IBM tech support what the problem is because otherwise they will just make you do stupid tests that won't help at all and it'll take you weeks to convince them of your problem. So we spent all night low-level formatting the hard drive, running all kinds of diagnostic tools for all kinds of things and didn't find anything. The new Windows installation works fine so far. I hope it stays that way and it was just a screwed up OS.

We're currently downloading new drivers. Bah. This is so much work. I hate it. My next laptop will be an Apple!

Feeling Good!

Almost forgot. This is the song of the week. Probably the song for the next couple of months :)

Muse - "Feeling Good"

Birds flying high
You know how I feel
Sun in the sky
You know how I feel
Reeds driftin' on by
You know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good

Fish in the sea
You know how I feel
River running free
You know how I feel
Blossom in the tree
You know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good

Dragonfly out in the sun you know what I mean, don't you know
Butterflies all havin' fun you know what I mean
Sleep in peace when the day is done
And this old world is a new world
And a bold world
For me

Stars when you shine
You know how I feel
Scent of the pine
You know how I feel
Yeah freedom is mine
And I know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me

And I'm feeling good

FREE!

FREE!This is us just minutes after handing the thesis in on Thursday. Happy but tired. But let me start from the beginning…

On Monday after writing the post we took a short nap of 2-3 hours to get at least some sleep. Just when I had fallen asleep I got a call that our theses had already been printed out and we could come anytime the next day to look through the prints and give them our okay to bind them. Yay! Got up in the evening to watch X-Files and some more TV, then play some Rez and other games until 5 in the morning. Got up again at 11 on Tuesday morning, checked the print-outs and waited for them to get bound. Then went to the examination office at our university to hand them in only to find a piece of paper on the door stating that were closed today and that our due date was pushed to Thursday. Great. All the stress for nothing. We spent the rest of the day assembling a CD to go with the paper version of the theses. In the evening we met a friend and played Axis and Allies Europe which was fun even though I was quite tired.

Wednesday morning for some strange reason we woke up at 7 after only 4 hours of sleep. But around 11am we were pretty tired again so we went back to bed for a “short nap”. Woke up at 5:45pm, 15 minutes after the time we had arranged to meet with our advisor at school. Called him to tell we overslept (he found it quite funny) and raced there. Took home some take out pizza afterwards and crashed in front of the TV. I don’t remember what else we did that night but we didn’t go to bed before 6am.

Got up again at 9am on Thursday and went to hand in our theses which worked fine. We took the above picture just after that in front of the main building of our school. You can see that we hadn’t gotten all that much sleep. Spent the rest of the day in town returning books to the library (at the other side of the city), visiting a couple of game stores (yay!), doing some christmas shopping and bought myself some cool new gloves as an early christmas present. Watched a couple of episodes of Sex and the City, CSI and Dark Angel that we didn’t have time to watch earlier in the evening. Went to bed around 3am.

Slept until 4pm today. Eek. My sleep schedule is so totally out of whack at the moment. I hope it’ll normalize itself soon. I have been feeling very strange since Monday. Like I was a totally new me suddenly. That’s the main reason I haven’t been posting. This whole write-up isn’t all that interesting. Reading it again makes me feel like nothing much has happened. But my whole life got turned around from feeling very bad for not working every time I did not work on my thesis (because I had to eat or take a shower or when I watched the news) to being able to do everything I want without having to feel bad about it. It’s strange. Whenever I watch TV now I still have this feeling somewhere deep inside that I shouldn’t be doing this. But it’s slowly beginning to sink in that I am truly done with school now (if nothing gets messed up that is). And I’m feeling very good about this (even though I don’t really look forward to having to go to work every day).

So this is what happened to me since Monday. Today I saw Bowling for Columbine. Fascinating film.

24h Girl

I have been awake for over 24 hours now. BUT.... the thesis is getting printed as we speak. Wheeeeee! Of course I didn't manage to be done by 9am as originally planned. Took me about 6 hours more. But as long as nothing goes wrong with printing and binding (keep your fingers crossed) I will make the deadline tomorrow. I still cannot believe that it's over now. Well, it will only truly be over when I have actually handed the thing in. Which I will do tomorrow.

Be back tomorrow. Need to catch up on some sleep, TV and games now!

*bounce*

11.5

Michi and I just filled Winamp with 11.5 hours of music. When the music is over our theses have to be done. Let's see if this works out.

Foreign Idioms

This guide to unbelievably filthy foreign idoms is pretty funny (via plastic). I'm not sure all of those are correct, but they're still funny :)

Japanese Poster

I NEED this Japanese Amélie poster (via Dawn). This is so much better than the European version of it. Wow. If only shipping to Germany weren't so expensive...

REZ

The copy of Rez for PS2 I bought on ebay arrived today. After playing the first level I must say that this game hasn't nearly received the attention it deserves. The fusion of action shooter and music game is perfect. It's a whole multimedia experience. It's also hard to describe this experience. That's probably why the game isn't that well known. It takes all my self-control not to "forget" about the thesis and play all day. Anyway I have also concluded that I definitely need to get my hands on this trance vibrator thingy.

*sigh*

My advisor gave me feedback to my most recent thesis chapters today. Well it seems like I won't be able to finish it tomorrow like I had originally planned. There's still too much to do. Oh well. Good Bye, weekend of booze and games. I will have to work on the damn thing just a little longer.... Until Monday, only until Monday!

It's Robots now

Robo
I know I should be posting more often and I feel very bad for neglecting the few readers I have but everything will get better in a week or so when I’m finally done with my thesis.

For now here’s proof of what I’m into now: Robots. Actually I like this little guy very much. Cute robot :)
